As we approach November, many people start to consider a time of gratitude. The reason the month of November has a gratitude theme, is due in part to the American celebration of Thanksgiving. My own journey to healing involved learning gratitude, even in the hardest places. Finding serenity in gratitude offers such a life giving experience, we need not confine it to one month of the year!
Gratitude practices, journals and challenges abound and encourage us to consider turning our hearts and perspectives to giving thanks. We can all agree that 2020 brought unpredictability, turmoil and hardships we did not anticipate. Cultivating a heart of gratitude in the midst of 2020 seems elusive.
why we need serenity in gratitude
I Remember my own healing journey began with gratitude in some decidedly hard circumstances. Gratitude does not come easy in suffering. Even though we may take things for granted in the good times, it’s easier to express gratitude in happier times. But learning the art of giving thanks in the broken places brings serenity.
I Thessalonians 5:18 tells us to give thanks in all circumstances. It is much easier to be thankful when everything goes the way we choose. But it is when we give thanks even in circumstances that are not as we would choose that we experience transformation. Transformation of ourselves and our circumstances. With all that we experienced in 2020 thus far, turning our hearts towards a posture of gratitude seems most needed to close out the year.
serenity in gratitude devotional
Considering my own gratitude journey and the emotionally exhausting months of 2020, I developed a new devotional. This quiet time devotional is designed to help you find peace and rest in your daily quiet times while incorporating gratitude in unique ways. My Serenity in Gratitude devotional will help you create ease in expressing gratitude without imposing expectations.
Expressing gratitude promotes physical and spiritual well-being, which we all need right now! My new devotional helps you find rest for your soul through daily quiet time activities. Each group of activities spans one week of the month, focusing on a different aspect of gratitude each week. They can be done in any order, and started any time or any month. The devotional offers daily activities, or choose two or three activities for the week.
refresh your soul
Since many people do turn to some sort of gratitude activity for the month of November, I wanted to offer my Serenity in Gratitude devotional in time for use in November. Please see the form at the end of the post to get your FREE copy today!
I specifically designed the devotional for use anytime, as this time of year can be hectic. My gift to you in Serenity in Gratitude is to offer gentle ways of exploring gratitude without pressure, guilt or expectations. The devotional offers a contemplative approach for inward and outward reflection meant for “lingering”. While we all need an avenue of gratitude expression, I desire to offer a peaceful path of soul restoration in the mist of gratitude.
Be sure to grab your FREE copy of my new devotional, Serenity in Gratitude today. Even if you normally do a gratitude challenge, journal or other activity during November, you won’t want to miss this! You can do this right along side those activities, or save it for a special month by itself. Either way, choosing to pursue serenity in gratitude, will bring refreshment to your soul.

Thanks for sharing these encouragements about a grateful heart. In writing a recent post that will go live soon, I learned that praise/gratitude is a spiritual weapon if not the greatest spiritual weapon. And indeed, when we practice gratitude, our minds are focused on the Problem Solver, not the problem.
One of the best books I ever read about gratitude is 1000 Gifts by Ann Voskamp. The book teaches basically how to live a life of gratitude in the Lord. It’s a book I always say I need to read every year to remind myself of the importance of practicing gratitude and how it honors the Lord.
