Thank you for joining me for Weekend Worship. Sometimes I have no words, my heart is full. What is Truth, my heart searches through pain. When I cry out to God, He answers with joy, love and healing. I find comfort in the Psalms, because it seems many of the Psalms express what I am feeling; they call out the words within me. It was through reading the Psalms that I found my voice. In the beginning it was the voice of lament like so many of the Psalms, later it became the voice of praise.
It began a journey into poetry for me which became my own dialogue with God. I developed this process of reading a Psalm, that was God’s word to me, He began the conversation. Then as I meditated on His words in the Psalm, my own voice emerged and I “wrote back”. Today I am sharing one of those conversations with you; you can read God’s Word to me in Psalm 4 from your Bible, then below is what poured forth from my own heart to God.
What is Truth?
Answer me when I call to you-
Come to me in my troubles.
Be gracious; Rescue from affliction!
Be merciful; Hear my cry!
How long will I be falsely accused?
How long will the lies continue?
How long must I suffer humiliation?
Know this: the LORD sets apart the godly.
The LORD will see my righteousness.
The LORD will answer me when I call.
I will not let anger consume me-
I will seek after righteousness.
In the night, I will be still.
My meditation will seek His way.
Let my heart be silent.
Let my sacrifice be righteous.
Let me wholly trust in God.
Though many say who is He
That can bring prosperity?
Let the light of your
Countenance speak, oh LORD!
Fill my heart with joy again.
A joy that none else brings-
Heal my wounds on my God.
For You alone are Love.
You alone are my Peace.
Only Jesus-my high tower.
Only Jesus makes me dwell in safety.
