Experts predict that 2026 will see significant economic, technological, and geopolitical changes, with a cautious, but optimistic outlook amid uncertainties. Every year the “experts” posit what they foresee for the coming year. While many of their predictions seem vague, pundits insist yearly predictions tend to materialize. The thing about such predictions given at the outset of a new year is, people seldom remember them at year’s end. Whether or not the above 2026 expert predictions come to fruition, I have some no fail predictions for the coming year which I know will happen.
At the close of the first month of 2026, the world seems as uncertain and dark as ever, but Jesus gave some timeless advice over 2000 years ago which still holds true today.
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Amid expert predictions, pundit speculations, and misguided optimists, we have assurance that Christ’s words will find fulfillment in the coming year.
Tribulation
“In the world you will have tribulation”. One glance at a newsfeed, especially on the biased popular news outlets, and we know tribulation within our world waits for us offstage. But even on a more personal, close to home level, Jesus’ prediction of facing suffering remains certain.
The Greek word, thlipsis, translated as “tribulation”, while carrying the meaning or trouble or affliction, nuances stress, burdens, and pressure. Jesus’ choice of such a word leaves little doubt that we will encounter trouble of all forms. In the passing of just the first month of 2026, I encountered stress, anguish, and trouble, how about you?
While Jesus avoids exhaustive specifics or degrees of suffering, we are assured of one thing—we will experience tribulation.

Understanding this removes the false hope of carefree days without suffering or petty annoyances. It seems as if Jesus implies, one day in heaven we will experience that reality, but not in “this world”.
Courage
With the dire prediction of certain tribulation, Jesus offers us courage, “but take heart; I have overcome the world.” This statement rings all the more remarkable considering Jesus proclaimed this truth just hours before He was arrested, forsaken, rejected, mocked, tortured, and executed. The disciples may have wrestled with the truth of His statement, but we have the testimony of the resurrection as proof of His victory claim.
Knowing the whole story indeed brings the courage we need to face our own suffering, for we share in His overcoming.
Peace
We also have confidence in Jesus’ prediction at the very beginning of John 16:33, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace.” Though in the moments He shared those words with the disciples in the Upper Room, Judas plotted Jesus’ arrest, and He knew His execution would be complete before the next day ended, He offered Peace.
Notice, peace was offered— and that peace was in Jesus. Jesus’ prediction of peace is certain; however, we must choose to receive it by trusting in His victory. Many people follow Jesus, listening to His words, but fail to appropriate the certainty of His peace.
In 2026, God gives us no fail predictions for the coming year. In this world, we will face tribulation, through Jesus’ overcoming the world, we will have courage to face those tribulations, and receiving His victory as our own, we will have peace.
