Rejoicing, today I’m sending you the gift of a Serenity Christmas! What we all need right now is time to linger, rest and allow the celebration of Christ’s arrival wash joy over us. The beauty of anticipation culminates in the joyous manifestation of God’s Great Love! How can our hearts but sing Hallelujah?! My precious Friends, join me in this space of quiet adoration for our King.
Linger with me in the serenity of song, story and worship, and even a smile or two. Be amazed anew at God’s goodness all around us. Step outside of preparations, noise and busyness into His Presence. Hear His voice whisper peace into your broken places, love into your pain and joy into your sorrow.
the greatest gift!
Serenity Christmas Stories
Christmas Eve
by Lynn Moss
Today in the town of David
A Savior has been born;
We praise the Father of all mankind
For Jesus Christ, God’s Son!
Kneel before the holy babe
It was for us he came to save;
Give to him our wisest gifts
Gold and myrrh and frankincense.
Gold: Our money give unto Him
To help us serve in the world of sin!
Myrrh: To share in his sorrows and those of the world.
To love each other in one accord!
Frankincense: The adoration of a consecrated life,
Give to the Lord this sacrifice.
No greater gift was ever given
Than Jesus Christ come down from heaven;
Let thankful hearts rejoice in praise,
On this most holy day of days!
Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

Sound of Your Love is a new service that lets family and friends leave voice messages for isolated loved ones, which can be played back to them on a loop by a care worker from any phone.

Once in a manger
by Tom Krause
Once in a manger, a long time ago,
Before there was Santa and reindeer and snow,
A star shone down on humble beginnings below
Of a baby just born who the world would soon know.
Never before had there been such a sight.
Would the Son of a King have to suffer this plight?
Are there no armies to lead? Are there no battles to fight?
Shouldn’t He conquer the world and demand His birthright?
No, this frail little infant asleep in the hay
Would change the whole world with the words He would say.
Not about power or demanding His way,
But mercy and loving and forgiving God’s way.
For only through humbleness would the battle be won,
As shown by the actions of God’s only true son.
Who gave up His life for the sins of everyone,
Who saved the whole world when His journey was done.
Many years have now passed since that night long ago
And now we have Santa and reindeer and snow
But down in our hearts the true meaning we know,
It is the birth of that child that makes Christmas so.

Yvonne! I rejoice that you are blessed by this post. As a hospice worker, “The Sound of Love” is something we use especially for those in facilities or the hospital, it’s awesome! Wishing you a blessed Merry Christmas, Friend!

What a great collection you’ve put together here, Donna! I always love funny clips of children’s nativities and that version of O Come O Come Emmanuel is beautiful. Hope you have a lovely Christmas!

Donna, this page is so filled with gifts large and small…and yes, all and each serene. I thank you so much for these blessings. Laughter when children fight over Jesus doll, Bocellis in harmony, and Piano Guys beautiful playing…all so wonderful. And as you said above the Piano Guys…The greatest gift is Emmanuel…God with us. Oh, that I will humble myself each day before Him.
Thank you for sharing all of these.

I enjoyed reading this Donna – just what I needed today. And having read the compelling argument for why Santa’s reindeer posse is all-female (except Rudolph of course), I completely agree 😀 Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas! x
Donna says
So pleased you were blessed by the post, Wemi! I was totally tickled by the reindeer post, makes me smile just thinking about it. Sending you and your family wishes for a blessed Christmas celebration too!

Thank you for sharing these uplifting stories, songs, and videos, Donna. The Hallelujah Chorus gives me goosebumps every single time. Merry Christmas!
Donna says
I’m glad you enjoyed them, Laurie! Yes, the Hallelujah Chorus is unparalleled. My husband and I normally take in the full Handel’s Messiah during the holidays, but alas, we were relegated to enjoying it “virtually” this year! A blessed Merry Christmas to you too!
